The BC RCMP tells 1130 NewsRadio that the avalanche took place in a backcountry ski area called Meadow near Pemberton.

BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) says it responded to a report regarding the avalanche around 1:34 p.m. Monday.

“Five people were initially deemed missing but have all since been located,” Mounties said.

BC EHS says paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to three patients who were transported from a staging area at the Whistler Helipad to hospital in “stable condition.”

Care and assessment was provided to two other patients who did not require hospitalization.

“We will provide further updates on our response when we’re able to,” said Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.

1130 NewsRadio has reached out to the Whistler Search and Rescue, and Avalanche Canada for more information.

This is a developing story. More to come.
