Police identify victim in weekend homicide in Surrey’s Sullivan Station neighbourhood

We're now learning more about the identity of a man who was shot dead over the weekend, and why he may have been targeted. Kurt Black has the details.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the victim in a weekend homicide in Surrey’s Sullivan Station neighbourhood.

Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers were called to the area of 60th Avenue near 151st Street shortly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday after reports of shots fired.

There, they found 27-year-old Jasman Sekhon suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong says this appears to have been a targeted incident related to organized crime.

“Mr. Sekhon had previous interactions with the police and was believed to be involved in the drug trade,” she said.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call IHIT information 1-877-551-IHIT (4448).
