A woman has died after a house caught fire early Saturday Morning in Surrey, the RCMP says.
Police and fire crews were called out just before 5:30 a.m. to a home along 88th Avenue near 151st Street. When they arrived, they evacuated all residents from neighbouring homes.

Assistant chief Greg McRobbie tells CityNews there was a significant amount of smoke and fire coming from inside the house.
He says the fire had progressed so much that it created “an atmosphere where it was hard to sustain life inside.” Seven fire trucks and 19 firefighters were called to the scene.
There were no other occupants in the house, and there are no other reports of injuries.

“It’s unfortunately a really sad day,” McRobbie said. “It’s never the outcome we want to see in a residential house.”
The Surrey Fire Inspector and the RCMP say the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
