TransLink offering free service tonight after 5 pm

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – SkyTrain, Bus, Westcoast Express and SeaBus service will all be free for partiers on New Years Eve starting at 5:00p.m and running a little later than usual.
Ken Hardie with TransLink says this is so everyone can plan a safe ride to and from their destination, “New Years Eve would be no exception. We would have more and more people taking the services. Something like New Years Eve is almost the same as the Sun Run, there’s a whole community of purpose on transit. It creates a really neat atmosphere and environment.”
Hardie claims there will also be a lot of extra support for operators to make sure everyone gets home safely. Their plan is in cooperation with police, the counter attack campaign and with support from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
