VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Genuine Cowichan sweaters will be sold at The Bay’s official Olympic superstore after all.
The Cowichan Tribes and the Hudson’s Bay Company have finally reached a deal, though the knitters aren’t that happy with the terms reached. Dora Wilson with the Tribes tells the Globe and Mail they’ll get $195 per sweater which takes two days to knit by hand.
Last year, The Bay was criticized for coming out with a sweater that some critics saw as a knockoff of the famous Cowichan original. The new sweaters will go on sale February 1st.
