New street names in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS1130) – King George Highway is now King George Boulevard, and 135th St. is now City Parkway.

Those are just two of the major street name-changes in Surrey, as part of its new city centre development plan.

The biggest changes will be on King George where medians and thousands of trees will be put in.

“We want to make sure that people arriving in downtown core see that it’s a little more friendly, than having a highway there,” says Mayor Dianne Watts.

The changes are already in effect but King George won’t be re-signed until after the Olympics to avoid confusing tourists.

Here is a list of street name-changes:
