VPD and courts crack down on notorious Hells Angels member

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A notorious member of the East Vancouver Hells Angels chapter has been ordered to cover up any sign he’s associated with the gang.  Vancouver Police call it an unprecedented step in stopping gang intimidation.  Juel Ross Stanton was arrested and charged in connection with two violent incidents at the Ivanhoe Pub.

VPD Inspector Brad Desmarais (in charge the Gangs and Drugs Section) says Stanton, 41, was intimidating members of the public, by flaunting his Hells Angels status to avoid being arrested.  Police say that included showing graphic tattoos on many locations on his body which clearly indicate he is a member of the Hells Angels.  Desmarais says the use of gang paraphernalia as an intimidation tool will not be tolerated.

Desmarais says the club must bear some responsibility for Stanton’s actions, and the VPD are serving notice to the Hells Angels that this level of violence will not be tolerated.  They’ll also be examining their current and future enforcement options with respect to the East End chapter of the Hells Angels.

Stanton is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a prohibited weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.  A judge imposed what police are calling extraordinarily strict release conditions, which include:

– Not to leave the Lower Mainland of B.C. without the court’s permission.

– Not to possess any weapons as defined in the Criminal Code of Canada, including firearms, explosives, ammunition or any other weapon.

– Not to possess knives outside his residence unless he is involved in the immediate consumption or preparation of food.

– Abide by a daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

– No contact with Kenneth Sacher, Daniel Lee Williams, Adele Turner and Kailen Duncan.

– Abstain from possessing or consuming any drug or substance not prescribed.

– Not to be outside of his residence if he has alcohol still in his bloodstream.

– Not to be found in the area of Vancouver bounded by Clark Street to the east, Quebec and Columbia to the west, Broadway to the south and Cordova to the north.
– Not to go to the Ivanhoe Bar and Rooming House at 1038 Main Street, Vancouver.

– Not to wear, display or use any Hells Angels clothing, logos, colours or paraphernalia in any public place, including all of his motor vehicles and properties.

– Not to go to any Hells Angels Clubhouse.

– Not to associate with any Hells Angels Club members or their associated club members, except for Dillon Stanton.

– Not to present and/or display any Hells Angels tattoos on his person in any manner in any public place.
