NBA returns to Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Toronto Raptors have confirmed they will hold part of their training camp in the Lower Mainland.
The new-look team will hold the second half of their training camp at UBC’s War Memorial Gym between October 1-6.
The club’s Senior Vice President Maurizio Gheradini says the team wants to grow their popularity on the West Coast. “We feel the need to become Canada’s team. It’s unique, it’s probably the first time that we’re coming this way for something like this, but it’s something that we really feel excited about.”
The practices will be closed to the fans, but the team will play an intrasquad game on the third, where the cost is a $15 donation towards UBC athletic scholarships. Tickets for the intrasquad game go on sale August 13th.
The team wraps up its visit to Vancouver on the sixth, with that pre-season game with Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns from Rogers Arena.
