VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Need a pug? How about a potbellied pig? There’s an app for that and it’s called Petango.
Susan Arts with PetHealth says the app for your iPhone does all the research for you. “Standing on the corner you can let the GPS source a shelter that’s nearby, tell it you’d like a cat — maybe a kitten, a short-haired domestic — and then it will pull up a search listing with photographs and information around that pet.”
Arts says you can tap one more time and you get to a ‘pet detail’ page that gives you a story about the animal and information about the shelter. “There’s also the ability, with one touch, to place a call directly to the shelter and make arrangements to see the pet if you’d like to adopt it.”
The Petango app will also give you driving directions. Arts adds the company is working with more shelters all the time, to support their initiatives of getting as many cats and dogs adopted as possible. Petango is free at the App store.
