VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A frat party at the UBC Vancouver campus turned violent last night, for both party goers and police, forcing neighbours to call Mounties.
RCMP Inspector Davis Wendell tells News1130 when they arrived on the scene to break up a couple of fights, some people turned on the officers. “They were somewhat swarmed by some of the individuals there and assaulted. We called for back-up and thankfully we had resources to re-deploy from other RCMP units within the Lower Mainland District and also the Vancouver Police came in to help us out.”
One person at the party says he was threatened by a person with a gun, but police weren’t able to find the suspect or a weapon.
A few people were arrested, but it’s unclear if any charges will be laid. Wendell adds police have been paying a lot of visits to different school campuses this past week as students went back to class.
