Boy arrested in rave assault

PITT MEADOWS (NEWS1130) – Anyone caught distributing online photos of a 16-year-old girl being gang raped could be criminally charged with distribution of child porn. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for taking and distributing the photos of the girl having sex with five to seven men at a rave in Pitt Meadows last Friday.

Sergeant Jennifer Hyland is with the RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit and says there is no question the photos qualify as child pornography. “It is not only an offence to distribute them, but to possess them. Anyone who has the photos has to delete them, and tell anyone they know who is sending them to stop committing that offence.”

She says the RCMP decided to call a press conference to try to relay the message and urge people to stop the spread of the controversial photos. “It’s spreading like wildfire and our attempts to stop this victim from reliving this and being victimized have been met with negative… it’s just getting worse.”

It’s said the victim suffered significant injuries from the assault and is still recovering.

Police say the person charged watched as the girl was being raped and didn’t do anything to stop it. He then took pictures of the attack, and posted the photos on Facebook.

The officers keep removing the photos from the web, but they keep reappearing. Hyland says she has never seen anything like this in her career.
