Forget the gym, people climb the Grind for a good cause

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Climbing up a steep hill to hopefully break some old records.  Hundreds took part in the 20th Annual Grouse Grind Mountain Run today.

Veteran stair climber Sebastian Salas broke his own record by finishing the race in just 25:01, shaving almost half a minute off his time that he posted last year.

Over 500 people participated and money raised goes to B.C. Children’s Hospital.

Grouse Mountain’s William Mbaho explains how one may prep for the Grind.  “Practice is the best form of training.  Positive visualization is also helpful.  People who take this seriously and want to improve their time find the only way they can do that is by coming back to Grouse Mountain.”

The top women’s time was 31:18. The youngest climber was eight-years-old.
