‘History has been written’: Diljit Dosanjh sells out BC Place in Vancouver

50,000 fans packed into BC Place stadium Saturday to see Diljit Dosanjh make music history in Vancouver, on the first leg of his tour that is expected to be the biggest Pujabi performance outside of India.

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh made concert history at Vancouver’s BC Place on Saturday.

The singer, songwriter, and filmmaker kicked off his Canada-wide ‘Dil-Luminati’ tour Saturday with a sold-out show to an audience of more than 54,000 people.

“History has been written,” Diljit’s social media account shared Sunday.

The performance broke the record for the largest Punjabi concert outside of India. Dosanjh is the first Punjabi artist to headline at the downtown venue.

In 2023, he became the first Indian artist to perform at the American music festival Coachella. The superstar has also made history in Vancouver before, becoming the first Punjabi musician to sell out Rogers Arena, in 2022.

It’s safe to say fans were moved by the Vancouver performance.

Concert-goer Manveer Kaur told CityNews the atmosphere was electric.

“I didn’t see anyone who did not enjoy the show,” said Kaur. “It’s like history! He made it, yesterday.”
