SURREY (NEWS1130) – The Port Mann Bridge-Hwy One improvement project is one of the most aggressive of its kind in BC’s history, and it’s on time and on budget.
The 10 lane, $2.5 billion new Port Mann Bridge is the pinnacle of the improvements. Pam Ryan with the project says the approach on the Surrey side is done. “We’re looking to move that yellow and blue gantry over to the north side where we’ll start installing the pre-cast deck sections on the north approach.”
You’ll see cables hung from bridge piers later in the year. Fifteen overpasses and ramps will replace the current four at the Cape Horn Interchange.
Those massive girders at Grandview Highway will soon be HOV and bus lanes, and interchange rebuilds are ready or underway for almost every major connection to the freeway.
Dips and bumps will be fixed, signage and lighting improved, with at least one new lane each way.
