VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – One person has been arrested but police are looking for another suspect after an armed Robbery Tuesday afternoon at Montecristo Jewellers at Oakridge Centre.
Police believe the men went into the store around 4:30 pm, started to rob it, and assaulted and pepper sprayed a security guard.
Johannes was outside the store when it happened. “They came already running out, two robbers, full of bags. Ran past, the one had a gun, and right around the corner they already caught one guy.”
Johannes says a store employee seemed upset, but everyone in the mall remained calm. He says neither of the men were wearing masks, so their faces were fully visible.
One of the suspects was arrested in the mall. Police say the suspect that got away may have taken off in a green Chevrolet Astro van,
Police do believe there was a gun involved, but no shots were fired.
It isn’t the first time Montecristo has been targeted by thieves, in September the same store was robbed at gunpoint.
