Canadians would like to have beer with NDP’s Layton: poll

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – As party leaders continue to tour the country trying to find votes, a new poll is looking at the lighter side of politics. It’s basically finding out which party leader you could see as a friend.

The survey, from Abacus Data, asked 1,000 Canadians who they’d prefer as a babysitter or even a drinking partner at a pub. The NDP’s Jack Layton takes the top spot for both of those questions; he’s also the first person you’d choose to jam with in a band.

Conservative leader Stephen Harper came a close second in the musical category. Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff was chosen as the best buddy for a trivia team.

When stacked up against celebrities, the party leaders aren’t as favoured as Sidney Crosby, Rick Mercer, or US President Barack Obama. But they did do better than Donald Trump, Tiger Woods, and Charlie Sheen.
