Five teens charged in musician’s beating

SURREY (NEWS1130) – As friends and complete strangers continue to rally around Surrey’s Michael Taylor, the five teens who beat the musician on Friday have been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The confrontation started when Taylor intervened after seeing the teens hassle another bus passenger. The teens used some racial slurs, then the musician followed them off the bus, which is where he was swarmed by them.

“As he fell to the ground, the group stomped on his head, rendering him temporarily unconscious,” explains Cpl. Drew Grainger.

Taylor was even beaten with high heeled shoes. He’s now recovering at home, awaiting the birth of his second child.

Two girls, 15 and 16 years old, and three boys, two of them 18, the other 14, were picked up by police.
