Kids were home as mom killed stepfather: Police

DELTA (NEWS1130) – Delta Police say two kids were home while their mother killed their common-law stepfather.

Sergeant Sharlene Brooks says the 10- and 15-year-olds are now in protective custody.

“There were two children in the residence at the time. Both did not witness the situation,” she says.

It happened about a week ago in North Delta. Police were called to a home to find 38-year-old Quannah O’Soup stabbed to death. His partner, 37-year-old Beatrice Thomas, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Officers had visited the home in March of this year “in regards to a family disturbance.” As a result, a court issued a peace order soon after. O’Soup was allowed to be at the home, but only if he was sober.

Brooks can’t say if he was drunk at the time.
