Banks fined by the CFL

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions have left town for Winnipeg and tomorrow’s road game with the Blue Bombers.

Lions’ defensive back Korey Banks will be allowed to play, but he will have to cut the league a cheque for an undisclosed amount.

Banks is one of a handful of CFL players that were levied fines today for incidents in week four. Banks made a throat slash gesture in the Lions’ 39-31 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last Friday at Empire Field.  The gesture was caught on national television.

Among the other players being punished are Toronto Argonauts linebacker Erijo Kuale. Kuale was ejected in the third quarter after a late, helmet-to-helmet hit on Winnipeg quarterback Buck Pierce in the Argos’ loss to Winnipeg Saturday afternoon.

Pierce is expected to start against the Lions in Thursday’s game.
