DENVER, CO (NEWS1130) – Canucks Head Coach Alain Vigneault has now won more games than any coach in club history, after Vancouver blanked Colorado 3-0. With the win, Vigneault now has 247 victories, passing Marc Crawford.
Vigneault is the 16th coach in club history and reached the record in 431 games, while Crawford needed 529 games to reach 246 wins.
Cory Schneider notched his second career shutout, making 24 saves in the game. He was solid throughout and he was especially sharp when the Canucks had to kill off back-to-back powerplays in the middle of the third period. For the first time in his NHL career, the Marblehead, Massachusetts native has started three consecutive games.
Late in the first period, Manny Malhotra‘s first goal of the season opened the scoring as Cody Hodgson made a fine pass on the play. It was Malhotra’s first goal in 27 games.
Alex Burrows made it 2-0 in the second period. Ryan Kesler wrapped up the scoring with an empty net goal, late in the third period in his 500th career game.
Vancouver continues the road trip in Phoenix on Friday.
