DELTA (NEWS1130) – The folks at Boundary Bay could see some flooding before the weekend is through.
High tides and heavy rains are conspiring to give the shoreline more water than it can deal with. Delta Mayor Lois Jackson points out strong winds are also in the forecast for Sunday morning.
“If that happens and we get 100 mile-an-hour winds we could certainly see some topping of the dikes at Boundary Bay,” she points out.
The storm surge could affect the shoreline from Point Roberts all the way to east Delta. And it’s feared the rainfall could affect rail crossings.
An emergency command centre has already been set up. “We’ve got a lot of people in place. Fire, police and volunteers personnel are all standing by.”
The mayor will be attending another meeting Saturday morning, to get an update on the situation. The phone number for the command centre is 604-946-3260.
