ARLINGTON, TX (NEWS1130) – BC pitcher Ryan Dempster struck out six, allowed eight earned runs in 4 2/3 innings work in his debut with Texas. His new mates helped him out with the bats, in a 15-9 win over the Angels.

The Rangers were up 6-2 after a couple of innings, but the Angels battled back with a run in the third inning, four in the fourth and one more off of Dempster in the top of the fifth. Los Angeles was up 8-7 when the Gibsons native left the contest with two out.

The American League champions rebounded and put up seven runs total in the seventh and eighth innings. Josh Hamilton had four runs batted in

Dempster was traded right before the trade deadline on Tuesday by the Chicago Cubs for a couple of minor league players. The 35-year-old had previously spent his 14-year career in the National League with the Marlins, Reds and Cubbies.

He was originally drafted by Texas, 66th overall, in the third round of the 1995 draft.
