Final Canuck is out at Vancouver Open Tennis tournament

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Canadian Frank Dancevic was bounced in the semi-finals by first seed Igor Sijsling of the Netherlands at the Vancouver Open 6-7, 6-3 7-6 (2). Sijsling will now face Sergei Bubka of the Ukraine.

Bubka, the sixth seed,  knocked out three-time champion Dudi Sela in the other semi-final 6-2, 7-6.  Sela, from Israel, had an 18-game win streak in singles play at Hollyburn halted with the loss.

It’s an all American final for the women, as Mallory Burdette meets Jessica Pegula. Burdette took out Chi Chi Scholl 6-2, 6-3. Pegula won by the same score over Julia Glushko of Israel. Pegula is the daughter of Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula.  

The action starts on Sunday at noon with the men’s doubles final. The women are next, followed by the men’s final to wrap the tenth anniversary edition of the tournament.
