VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Plenty of events to get you into the holiday spirit this weekend. You can also fill your days with food, sport, or culture.
Yaletown is turning into CandyTown Friday and Saturday on Mainland between Davie and Nelson. Santa will be there, there will also be horse-draw carriage rides, street market, games, skating and a cocktail tour for the adults. You can even skate with Trevor Linden. And it’s all for free!
Get into the Christmas spirit and come out to the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival Saturday at Central City Plaza. Join Santa, Frosty and the Mayor as they flip the switch on the big tannenbaum.
Come check out some neat Christmas crafts at the Strathcona Winter Craft Fair Saturday at the Strathcona Community Centre. More than 30 vendors will be there showcasing their unique handmade crafts.
You’re also sure to find some great Christmas treasures at the Portobello West Holiday Market this weekend at Creekside Community Rec Centre.
A big antique sale is on Saturday at the West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club on 20th Street. All the money raised helps the SPCA.
Come learn how to make your own cheese at the Advanced Cheese Making Workshop Saturday at the UBC Farm.
Bring the kids out to ArtStars on Saturdays: Spin Cycle Saturday at ArtStarts on Richards Street. The free event features well-known Canadian performers, a magic display, and many more fun things to do.
Help raise money for kids in BC with Cancer at the Fishermen Helping Kids With Cancer Herring Sale Saturday at the South End of Trites Road in Steveston. There will be cooking demonstrations, samples to enjoy, and other neat merchandise to buy.
Bring the kids out to the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre Saturday to learn all about the lives of salmon and how important they are to the ecosystem.
Check out some amazing burlesque dancers Saturday night at Neverland Burlesque at the Russian Community Centre on W 4th.
Disney on Ice Presents Dare to Dream this weekend at the Pacific Coliseum.

The Croatian Cultural Centre is the place to be Sunday if guitars are your thing. The Vancouver Guitar Show is on, complete with custom guitars on display, vendors and great entertainment. There will even be a singer/songwriter showcase, clinics, and much more.
