VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Tomorrow is the big day for shoppers on both sides of the border — Cyber Monday.
BMO’s Annual Cyber Monday Report shows 44 per cent of all Canadians plan to click and buy. 16 per cent will be buying gifts for others, five per cent will be shopping for themselves, and 23 per cent will be shopping for themselves and others.
Richard Dendy with BMO explains retailers are being more and more accommodating to customer needs, realizing the world-wide-web can be an advantage, rather than a disadvantage. “We find some retailers are even saying ‘we don’t have that particular size, why don’t you check our online site?’, providing a full and virtual experience.”
When you break it down by province, 79 per cent of us in this province seem to still prefer going to the mall to do our shopping. Meanwhile, 22 per cent of us will cross the border to do our shopping. “My family, all our women go down south of the border and whatever they couldn’t find in the stores on the weekend, they buy online the following Monday,” describes Dendy.
Nationally, 13 per cent of Canadians plan on heading to the US to buy their holiday items, down from 18 per cent last year.
