VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Morgan Rielly broke a 1-1 deadlock with just under five minutes to go in the third period to give Moose Jaw a 2-1 win at the Pacific Coliseum. Payton Lee made 32 saves in the Vancouver goal.
After hitting the post on a break away early in the third period, Rielly buried the winner 15 minutes later. The West Vancouver product was the fifth overall pick at the NHL entry draft by Toronto last June.
Tristan Sieben opened the scoring in the game for Vancouver just before the game was three and a half minutes old.
The Warriors’ Kendall McFaull tied the game on the power play with 90 seconds to go in the opening frame.
The visitors outshot the Giants 34-16 in front of 5,525 fans.
It was the third solid start for Lee. The 16-year-old goalie stopped 29 shots on Saturday in Kamloops and 39 in Portland a week ago.
Vancouver plays in Everett on Friday night.
