Vancouver Giants try to avoid seventh straight loss

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants fell 4-0 to the Everett Silvertips last night for their sixth loss in a row and they’ll try and end that slump tonight as they host the Tri-City Americans.
The Americans have lost their past three games and will also be looking to end their slump.
Vancouver (7-19-0) is struggling through a rebuilding season and sits last in the WHL. The Giants last win came on Nov. 16, when they beat the Regina Pats 4-3.
The Giants have scored just two goals in their past four games and forward Dalton Sward believes the chances have been there, they’ve just had trouble finishing.
“I think it’s just more of a confidence thing. When you get the puck on your stick you’ve got to be confident that you’re going to put it in the back of the net, and not second guess yourself.”
The Giants are playing without one of their top offensive weapons, as Marek Tvrdon is out for the season with a blood clot.
The lone bright spot for the Giants during their losing streak has been goaltender Payton Lee. The 16-year-old was sharp, turning aside 22 of the 25 shots he faced. Lee has a 4-7 record with a 3.36 goals against average and an .885 save percentage this season.
There will be a pre-game ceremony to celebrate the career of former Vancouver Canucks captain Trevor Linden tonight. Puck drop at the Pacific Coliseum is at 7 p.m.
