Nominations open for 2013 Courage to Come Back Awards

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – For 15 years, the Courage to Come Back Awards have recognized extraordinary British Columbians who have battled the longest of odds and won. Organizers are now accepting your nominations for this year’s gala.
More than 80 people have been recognized with a Coast Mental Health Courage to Come Back Award since 1999 and now they’re looking for six more.
Categories include Mental Health, Medical, Physical Rehabilitation, Social Adversity, Addiction, and Youth.
Awards chair Lorne Segal admits it’s not easy to be on that selection committee. “No one leaves unless there’s a unanimous decision as to who the most worthy recipients are and the problem is that you want to give the award to everyone because they’re all incredible stories. How do you choose one over another?”
Who knows? You may know someone who is deserving.
“There’s probably a story in all of our lives if we simply take a little bit of time to focus and think about the people who have touched us in our lives or we know someone who knows someone.”

Nominations close on February 11th.
