CALGARY (NEWS1130) – Two BC Liberal MLAs are on their way to a party fundraiser…in Alberta.
Bill Bennett and Rich Coleman will be in Calgary tonight, campaigning for Columbia River – Revelstoke candidate Doug Clovechok — and Bennett says nothing should seem fishy.
“Our two ridings border on Alberta, so there’s a lot of activity in our riding’s, a lot of business activity, a lot of real estate investment from Alberta. So, there’s a natural interaction between our part of the province and Alberta.
But neither Bennett nor Premier Christy Clark could respond when asked if the oil industry is involved.
“I don’t know the answer to that,” says Clark.
“I have no idea,” responds Bennett.
Clark says it’s not uncommon for party members to fundraise outside BC. “Well, you know, I think you might be surprised by the political stripes of politicians in British Columbia who go to Alberta and do fundraisers. I know some of the opposition has been doing some of that as well.”
