Adam Hadwin earns spot in PGA event with sparkling qualifier

ONCEANSIDE, CA (NEWS1130) – Abbotsford’s Adam Hadwin had 11 birdies to help him claim a place in this week’s PGA stop, the Farmers Insurance Open. Hadwin shot an 8-under, 64 in Monday’s qualifier at El Camino Country Club.
Hadwin’s 64 was the best score of the day along with American Mark Baker and earned him one of the four available spots at Torrey Pines later this week.
The field includes stars such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley and last year’s winner Brandt Snedeker. Canadian’s Mike Weir, David Hearn, Brad Fritsch, and Graham DeLaet will also participate.
This will be Hadwin’s eighth PGA tournament of his pro career. He’s made the cut six of his previous seven appearances.
The 25-year-old is scheduled to play this season on the Web.com Tour, where he played last year. He barely missed out on earning his PGA Tour card at qualifying school in December.
The tournament begins on Thursday and wraps up on Sunday.
