Education minister defends post-secondary spending record

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC’s education minister is defending our province’s record on post-secondary spending in light of a new report.
University researchers suggest more than 16,000 jobs in this province will go unfilled by 2020 because too few people have college and university degrees.
Minister Don McRae says the province will take a look at the report’s findings.
“Again, we’ve created over 30,000 new spots in the last ten years, but again, it has to be reviewed and we make sure we invest our taxpayers dollars in the best way possible and we meet the needs of the students in society.”
The report also suggests degree and technical programs be given the same weight the province has put on trades.
