Canucks lose Volpatti to Capitals

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) –  The Vancouver Canucks have lost forward Aaron Volpatti on the waiver wire to the Washington Capitals.  The Canucks were hoping Volpatti would go down to the farm team in Chicago and get more ice time.

“I was a little disappointed obviously.  I had planned if I did clear that I would be back here pretty soon. That won’t be the case, but that’s the vision I had,” Volapatti tells News1130 Sports.  Volpatti, a native of Revelstoke, is happy though to still be in the NHL.

The 27-year-old Volpatti had one goal and 28 penalty minutes in 16 games this season and had been one of the grittier players on the roster.  The Canucks have called up forward Andrew Ebbett from the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves, especially thin at the centre ice position with Ryan Kesler now out of the line-up with a broken foot.

The Canucks are back in action on Saturday at Rogers Arena when they will try to break a three-game home losing streak against the LA Kings.  Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
