Lions now have two centres in sick bay

KAMLOOPS (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions are even thinner on the offensive line after Adam Baboulas broke his leg in today’s morning drills. It happened in Tuesday’s workout for the third-year Lion, who was replacing Angus Reid, who has missed three days now with back spasms.
“Everybody’s going a million miles an hour. It’s just physics after a while, the nature of the position,” said Lions guard Dean Valli. Valli would know, after breaking his leg in 2010. That year, he began the season as the starting centre, with Reid in a backup role before suffering his season-ending injury. Baboulas’ injury is believed to be a hairline fracture of the fibula.
Lions head coach Mike Benevides says that Reid has seen a specialist for his back problem, is getting treatment and hopes that his veteran centre will be back soon. He adds that Reid already knows the offence, so missing time at camp will not be a problem.
The injuries at centre could force a shuffle of positions on the offensive line. Western University product Matt Norman, who has had some reps at the position and newcomer Matthew Albright of St. Mary’s University could be called on to fill-in while Reid heals his back injury.
