VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Canadian talk-show host is starting a 10-week stint in the United States Sunday night, and expectations are high.
George Stroumboulopoulos will make his CNN debut at 10 p.m., with his first guests set to be rapper Wiz Khalifa, Canadian comic Martin Short and Actor Keanu Reeves.
Strombo was on CNN Friday to promote the show, and explained how his CBC program managed to snag some big-name guests.
“We were very lucky we had Tom Cruise early in our run, and Tom was so lovely, he started to tell other people about the show, and kind of like an indie band, word of mouth (helped us) grow,” Stroumboulopoulos said.
The show will move to its regular time-slot on Fridays at 11 p.m. after Sunday’s debut episode.
Other confirmed interviews for the show include Betty White, Bill Maher and Sharon Stone.
