Whitecaps try to stay hot against Galaxy

By

CARSON, CA (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps have not lost in their past six matches, with five of those results being wins, and they try to keep that streak alive tonight against the LA Galaxy.

With 32 goals, the Whitecaps are tied with Real Salt Lake and Philadelphia Union for most in the league. Vancouver has played one less game than both the other clubs.

Brazilian striker Camilo is the leading scorer in Major League Soccer with 12 goals. He’s coming off his second Player of the Week Award in the past five weeks as he scored twice in the ‘Caps 3-1 win over the Chicago Fire last weekend.

Kekuta Manneh had a goal and an assist in the victory and earned the Rookie of the Week Award.

Vancouver hasn’t been terrific on the road this season but did take a 1-0 victory over DC United in its last match away from home.

The teams will be meeting for the second time this season. The ‘Caps won 3-1 in Vancouver on May 11. The last time the Galaxy hosted the Whitecaps, Vancouver was eliminated from last year’s playoffs.

Canadian forward Russell Teibert will be back with the Whitecaps after representing Canada at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The game will be televised on CityTV and Sportsnet Pacific. Kick-off is 7:30 p.m.
