Riot nearly started in Bellingham by college-aged students

BELLINGHAM (NEWS1130) – At least four people were arrested in Bellingham last night as up to 400 college-aged students nearly started a riot in the streets.

“There was drinking, it became disorderly and pretty much an out and out riot,” says Sgt. Mike Scanlon.

Many of the revelers then moved to nearby Laurel Park, where they were joined by even more people.

Police had dishes and beer bottles thrown at them and used smoke and flash-bangs to disperse the crowd.

It’s unclear how much damage was done, or how many people were hurt.
