Vancouver last won the cup in 2008 and has now won it a total of four times. The Sounders and Timbers have each claimed the title three times as the cup was introduced in 2004.
The win gives Vancouver its first silverware since joining Major League Soccer for the 2011 season.
The ‘Caps had two wins, one loss and three draws in Cascadia play this season. Most recently they earned a 4-1 victory in Seattle on Wednesday.
The Cascadia Cup is awarded annually to the team which accumulates the most points in games against one another. Portland, Seattle and Vancouver are the three participants.
Vancouver still has two games remaining in the MLS regular season. The Whitecaps play Colorado in a home-and-home series to wrap up the schedule, and they currently trail the Rapids by three points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
