The biggest day in the five-day Diwali “festival of lights” is the third day, which falls on November 3rd this year. That’s when the feasting and fireworks happen. On the fourth day, the first day of the new year, friends and family visit with gifts and best wishes for the season. On the fifth day men visit their married sisters, who welcome them with love and a lavish meal.
