NASHVILLE, TN (NEWS1130) – Ryan Kesler scored a pair of third period goals, leading the Canucks to a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators. That’s the second straight game Kesler has scored two goals. He leads Vancouver with 14 on the season.
Brad Richardson opened the scoring for the Canucks, who have won three of four.
Colin Wilson scored for the Predators, losers of three straight.
Kesler seems to dominate when playing in Music City. In the 2011 playoff series between the two teams he had a hand in 11 of the Canucks 14 goals.
After the latest win, Kesler focused on the traction his team appears to be gaining and not about his individual performance. “I have four goals in two games, but it’s not about that. It’s our team and how we compete. We’ve been bringing it. They took it to us the first part of the game and then we found a way to get the momentum back. When they came back and scored right away, we found a way to win again which is important.”
The Canucks will now return home to face the Coyotes on Friday night.
Vancouver has 10 wins on the road this year – only five at Rogers Arena. Kesler is confident his team will sort that out. “Three of four on the road, I think sets us up for going home. Saying that, we can’t let off the gas pedal. The first game back at home is always tough. We have to come out and have a good first and go from there.”
Defenceman Alex Edler may not be available for the next game as he is listed day-to-day with a lower body injury. He did not return for the second period in Nashville.
