LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – If you waited until today to get winter tires put on your car, you will likely be in for a long wait!
News1130 checked around to see what you may be in for at shops around town, and Adam Scott, senior assistant manager of the Kal Tire in Port Kells explains, “Wait times are considerable… product availability too — some of the popular brands have run out.”
At one point, there were 20 cars lined up to get serviced there.
“It will get done today, but I don’t know what time…it is hard to forecast,” explains Scott.
Over at the Canadian Tire on Cambie Street in Vancouver, GM Glen Gillis says it never fails; every year on the first day of snowfall, they end up getting slammed.
“Most stores take appointments and first-come first-served, be patient and check for stock,” he advises.
“The reality is that the vast majority of people wait until it snows, and some come to regret it. But we are going to be really busy over the next couple of days.”
To help maintain control and stability of your vehicle in icy conditions, Transport Canada and the Rubber Association of Canada recommend that you install winter tires in sets of four.
