Air Canada flight makes emergency landing in Nanaimo

NANAIMO (NEWS1130) – An Air Canada Jazz flight from Nanaimo to Vancouver has made an emergency landing because of an engine fire.
The flight turned back and safely landed in Nanaimo.
None of the passengers has been hurt.
Mike Hooper, CEO of Nanaimo Airport, says in cases like this there is an emergency plan in place. “Fortunately, there was not a need for the emergency response team and all the passengers are healthy and off the aircraft.
Hooper says the plane has been towed off the run way and crews will now take a look to determine exactly what happened.
In a statement, Air Canada says it believes oil leaking from an engine ignited, causing the fire.
