Milan Lucic softens his blow on Vancouver

BOSTON, MA (NEWS1130) – Bruins forward Milan Lucic is now backing off of damning comments he made about his hometown.
After Saturday’s Canucks vs Bruins game, Lucic went out to a local bar and claimed he was punched a few times by someone inside. He says it was an unprovoked attack.
Following the incident he had said he was done defending Vancouver and the people here.
He has now issued this statement through the Bruins organization:
“This has been a very difficult week for me given the recent events that took place in my hometown of Vancouver. As I have had more time to think I want to make it clear that regardless of what has happened, I am still – and always will be – proud to be from there. It is home. While the actions of a few individuals have deeply upset me and will impact the time I spend downtown going forward, I will not let those incidents diminish the love and pride I have for the city as a whole. This will be my final comment on this subject.”
Lucic was raised in East Vancouver and was a star for the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Giants before making the jump to the NHL.
