People sharing tributes of Jack Munro

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – People in BC’s labour movement are remembering Jack Munro.
A tribute to the late labour leader was held at the Vancouver Convention Centre on Saturday.
Steve Hunt who is with the United Steelworkers union acted as Master of Ceremonies.
“He was a true leader. As a young steelworker, when I first started in the labour movement Jack was the president of the International Woodworkers Union. He had the ability to motivate and lead people. He made a great contribution to the province.”
He says the event attracted people from all walks of life.
“There’s a variety of people, many people who were the industry during Jack’s time. The tribute was very respectful of Jack’s commitment and dedication to working people and all people in BC.”
Munro, an outspoken and passionate leader who led the Solidarity movement in the early 1960s, was 82 when he died in November.
