Edler and Burrows return to Canucks practice

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It was a good sign for the Canucks this morning as defenceman Alex Edler was one of the first players on the ice at practice. Edler has been out since December 3 when he hurt his knee in Nashville. He is one of three blueliners injured right now; Andrew Alberts and Ryan Stanton are the others.
Alex Burrows also joined the workout today. He was hit in the face with the puck on December 1, and suffered a broken jaw. He did undergo surgery. But, he won’t be in the lineup tomorrow night at home against the St. Louis Blues because he hasn’t been medically cleared to play just yet.
Dale Weise and David Booth were healthy scratches earlier this week against Pittsburgh and both skated on the fourth line.
The team spent the final minutes of practice working on the shootout. It’s no secret the Canucks have struggled big time with this element. Jason Garrison scored on four of his five attempts. It looks like coach John Tortorella will have no choice but to go with the defenceman next time the extra point is on the line. But, if the coach had his way he wouldn’t have to deal with that decision because he feels a shootout can’t be simulated in a practice situation and should be out of the game.
