VPD looking for violent purse snatching suspect

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The VPD is looking for the man behind two violent purse snatchings last night.

The first one happened around 10 p.m. around Nootka and 24th Avenue, where a 20-year-old woman was attacked from behind. A grabbed her purse and punched the victim several times in the head. He then pulled out a gun and threatened her.

The woman screamed and the suspect ran away.

The second robbery happened about an hour later near Nat Bailey Stadium. A man ran up to a 23-year-old woman at a bus stop and tried to grab her purse. The suspect punched her in the face and then ran off with the purse.

Fortunately, neither of the victims were seriously hurt.

The suspect is believed to be in his twenties; he’s described as about 5’7″ tall with a skinny build. He was wearing black pants and a black hoodie at the time of the attacks.
