ANAHEIM (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks will have a tough test tonight against the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim has won their last seven games and 17 of their last 18 contests. To make matters worse for Vancouver, the Ducks are nearly unbeatable at home this season, compiling a 19-0-2 record.
Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau has been very pleased with his team’s recent play
“This team seems to squeak games out. If they are behind they dig in deeper. Right now they are feeling it. Every team goes through this. They feel like they can win every game.”
One of the main reasons for Anaheim’s success is the play of goalie Jonas Hiller. Last week he was named the NHL’s second star of the week and Boudreau says it is very comforting to have such solid goaltending.
“Good goaltending is a paramount thing in this league. If you look at the teams that are doing well, it’s their goaltenders that are doing well. You look at the teams that are struggling, they all talk about goaltending. Jonas Hiller has been on quite a role right now, so as a coach it is probably the least of my worries right now.”
The Canucks have lost six of their last seven games and will have to contend with Ryan Getzlaf. Anaheim’s leading scorer returns to the lineup after missing the last game with a leg injury.
David Booth is expected to return to the Canucks lineup after missing several games.
If the Ducks win tonight they will tie the 2008-2009 San Jose Sharks for the third longest start to a season without a regulation loss at home.
The game can be seen on Sportsnet Pacific at 7:30 p.m.
