Clipper ferry thief gets more than two years in jail

SEATTLE (NEWS1130) – The man who tried to steal the Victoria Clipper ferry in Seattle has been given more than two years behind bars.
Samuel McDonough managed to rip the ferry away from the dock in Elliot Bay on December 1st, but didn’t know what to do after that.
He was arrested by a SWAT Team.
KOMO News obtained court papers which say McDonough took the eight million dollar boat on a whim and as a birthday present to himself.
He told police his only boating experience came from piloting a jet ski.
McDonough also told police he was a pirate and planned to flee the country to Victoria.
The privately operated ferry service provides transportation between Seattle and Victoria.
