Donated sculpture being installed in downtown Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s taken a while, but a bronze sculpture donated by Greece is finally being installed in Vancouver’s downtown.

The 3.8 metre representation of Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory, was given to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Games.

The city had struggled with where to put it. Work is now underway at the intersection of Cordova and Thurlow Streets and might take the rest of the week.

It will be officially unveiled this spring.

The statue has an estimated value of $500,000.
