Bronze medalist Mark McMorris back in Canada

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Canada’s first medalist at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics dropped by our sister station 680News in Toronto this morning after returning home from Russia.
Snowboarder Mark McMorris, 20, won bronze in the first ever men’s slopestyle event.
He told 680News’ Jaime Pulfer his route to Olympic glory was not an easy one.
“The amount of ups and downs I went through to get that medal is ridiculous, and that’s what made it so special,” said McMorris.
“I broke my ribs 10 days before I had to compete, so it was not an easy task and it wasn’t pain-free that’s for sure.”

There was heavy focus on the new slopestyle event after US superstar Shaun White dropped out to concentrate on the snowboarding event, where he failed to medal on Tuesday.
