VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The marquee matchup in men’s hockey could mean more than a few empty offices this morning.
Canada’s semifinal showdown against the US could affect productivity.
You could find the roads a little quiet this morning, as hockey fans get a late start on the day. Even those who get to work on-time may be distracted by the 9 a.m. game.
We found one man who vows to watch at work. “It depends who’s looking! If the boss isn’t looking!”
One woman tells us she’s got her story ready. “I’d have to pull out a good one… a sprained ankle? Something good!”
CP reporter Neil Davidson says fans will be looking for the Canadian offence to finally start scoring. “There’s a lot of goals in these players. But they’ve run into some tough European teams; these days, every European team is very well drilled, very well disciplined.”
“There’s been a lot of tinkering with the forward lines, a lot of the goals come from defence, and perhaps we haven’t seen the Canadian offence unleashed as they should.”
Today’s winner goes for gold against Sweden on Sunday; the loser will play Finland for bronze.
